This is a really great game and I spent maybe an hour or two playing it but here are a couple things that I found to be really annoying and suggestions that should be considered for future games:
1. Blocking - I found blocking to be quite difficult especially when you're trapped against a side of the screen. Many times my mouse would be behind my character and he still wouldn't block. I noticed that walking backwards does not necessarily mean that you're blocking so that's kind of annoying.
2. More Characters! - Even though it was fun just trying to unlock all 4 characters and experimenting with them (Lavia being the most over-powered), I think that game would do a lot better if it had more characters.
Other than that, I have to say that this is a great game with a great concept and everything else is well made. The combo system is really accurate, seeing how I can pull off insane combos just like the CPU. I'm looking forward to more of these types of games.
Here's a little boss walkthrough for all of u that need help on beating the bosses.
Boss 1: The Mage Master
-This is a pretty easy boss. You can just hack-and-slash at him and still win. Just avoid his spells, especially the poison one, and then counter attack. Attack his gnome minions that he summons for health if u need it. Also watch out for his meteor shower thing but you are able to attack him while he's doing this attack.
Boss 2: The Boar
-Here is where u have to start thinking a little. Make sure u avoid the path of the boar so u don't get hit. Walking up and down is an easy way to do this. Now when the gnome on the boar throws a spear on the ground, pick up that spear and wait for the boar to come at u so u can throw it at the boar when it comes charging at u. Then the boar will be stunned and u can pick up ur other weapon and start attacking. Now be careful when the boar wakes up cuz it will try to stomp on u which will also cause an earthquake so the only way to dodge it is to jump out of the way. The two bushes give u items when u hit them. Repeat the process until the boar dies.
Boss 3: The Freak
-This guy is strong as hell, two hits from him will kill u. So when the fight begins, wait for the audience to throw fruits at u. Then u pick up the fruit and throw it at the Freak. He will start eating and this is ur chance to start attacking him. But when he's done eating he will jump up, go back to the end of his side of the platform and start charging at u. If u don't do the sprint high jump over him, he will trap u in the corner and kill u. Make sure u avoid this! This is really all it takes to kill this boss. But just make sure u do the high jump correctly all the time, otherwise u will die.
Boss 4: The Gnome King
-This guy isn't really that difficult, especially since u can heal urself in the room to the left with all the crates. When u first get to the room with the crates, don't take all of the health orbs cuz u might want to save some for later during the boss fight. Instead, u can take the rage orbs cuz u start with no rage at the beginning of the fight. The Gnome King only has 4 attacks. One is his club attack where he tries to hit u with his club. This attack is really slow, and u can usually counter attack with about two hits. The best strategy to use is the run-and-hit strategy where u just attack for like two hits, run around him, and then hit him some more. The King's second attack is his flamethrower attack. Once again, if u do the run-and-hit strategy, u will be able to avoid getting hit with his attack. Just make sure u don't run back cuz it's a stream of fire. His third attack is a fireball where he just spits one fireball at u. Very easy to dodge, and doesn't do that much damage. His final attack is the most dangerous one, his earthquake. He jumps up high in the air and comes down to cause an earthquake which sends rocks falling from the ceiling. The falling rocks isn't the main problem, it's the part where the whole floor shakes. If u don't dodge the quake, u will lose like half ur life bar. So jump out of the way! Watch out for these attacks and heal when necessary.
The way that i was able to get out of the bird glitch was to use my rocket pack on the turtle while it was in the glitch and move it away from the bird. Then I was able to drop back down to the ground. But the weird part was that i wasn't moving forward at all without the help of pressing the d button. But at least i could drop down and save my score and get the money.
There are probably a lot of these strategy guides out there already but i'm going to tell you which spells work the best and which are just plain useless:
-The Fire Arrows are one of the better arrows that doesn't cost a lot of MP. These arrows are good for taking out portals quickly, in the earlier levels, and they are kinda good for dealing damage on multiple enemies at once.
-Freeze is an ok spell for freezing groups of enemies but it doesn't deal any damage and i didn't find myself really using it that much.
-Storm Strike is really good for wiping out groups of weak enemies, and even some of the big guys as well (no the large ones in the demon portal though).
-Volcano is that effective against enemies, it's more better for getting rid of portals quickly. You just shoot one right below a portal and watch the portal get destroyed in a matter of seconds. However, it's hard to use this all the time due to the large of MP it takes. So use Fire Arrows if you can't use Volcano anymore.
-Bloat is not that useful in the earlier levels, but it will make your life much easier when you have this on later levels (like in the Demon Portal). Use this arrow on those really big guys and they will disappear in seconds. This saves a lot of time and it doesn't cost a lot of MP to cast.
-Fire Storm wasn't as good as i thought it would be. It requires a huge amount of MP and it's pretty much just for large waves of enemies and destorying portals quickly. I don't think it's worth the MP though.
-The only Trinket you really need is the health restoration. You can experiment with the others though.
The arrows u should have for normal enemies are:
-Fire Arrow
-Storm Strike
-Volcano (for portals)
-Freeze
-Bloat (for later levels)
-( Doesn't really matter, experiment with other arrows if u want)
Arrows for the Last Boss:
-Fire Arrows
-Fire Storm
-Storm Strike (doesn't affect the boss, but useful when it summons enemies)
-(Anythig u want)
-(anything u want)
*All of the arrows and trinkets that i didn't mention are pretty much useless. If u want to experiment with them, go ahead.
A lot of ppl seem to be having trouble getting the Coward Coward ranking.
All u have to do is make Reemus hide in the frog, then click the right arrow once with Liam and go back again where the monster punches Liam. Then click the left arrow again and Liam will decide not to go through with the mission and u get the ranking Coward Coward.
This game is a little bit too hard, and the buttons are somewhat hard to reach, but i think i may have found a really easy way to kill him:
-first buy lots of potions, but mainly mana pots, and then all you do is activate pickpocket and just keep on boomerang stepping the guy. (Boomerang step=B key) Just hold the B button and you'll dodge every single attack the guy does, but it gets pretty boring so if u want to risk it, once there's a lot of money on the ground, use meso explosion. But beware, u can easily die like i did all the time. Just keep on doing this until u beat him and heal when u need to.
(Note: I have never actually beat him using this strategy, but i do know that u can dodge all of his attacks with boomerang step.)
